In 2023, Tampa Bay locals Zach and Abby launched ClearQuest Water Solutions to give their neighbors a better experience. They built this company on a simple belief: you deserve clean water without the high-pressure sales tactics.
Zach brings over 10 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing water systems across Wesley Chapel, Lutz, New Port Richey, Zephyrhills, and Dade City. After a decade in the franchise model, he and Abby left the corporate world to do things the right way.

Hardness is the calcium and magnesium your water picked up from Florida's limestone. 12.6 grains per gallon sits above the City of Tampa's 2025 average of 12.3.
Grains per gallon to parts per million at 17.2 (City of Tampa). The City of Tampa counts water above 120 ppm as hard, and says hard water is fine to use and drink: a softener is about scale, soap and how the water feels. Our own readings, 9 to 18 grains across Tampa Bay, come from homes that asked for a test.

Yes. ClearQuest is a family-owned company based at 26246 Wesley Chapel Blvd in Lutz, and we install softeners in homes across Wesley Chapel, Lutz and the surrounding Pasco and Hillsborough County communities. Zach tests your water at the sink first, then we size the softener to your readings and your household. Most systems go in during a single visit, programmed and checked with you before we leave.
In the homes we have tested, yes. Our own in-home readings in Wesley Chapel houses on Pasco County water have run from 10.5 to 18 grains per gallon. The City of Tampa's water FAQ counts water above 120 parts per million as hard, and 10.5 grains is about 180. These readings come from homes that asked us for a test, so a test at your own tap settles it.
The City of Tampa's 2025 Water Quality Report puts the average total hardness at 211 mg/L, or 12.3 grains per gallon. The City of Tampa says its water's hardness moves with the seasons, between about 140 and 300 parts per million, or 8 to 17 grains per gallon: lower in the wet season and higher in the dry season. The city adds that hard water is fine to use and drink without a softener.

Zach and Abby Brownell, a husband-and-wife team, founded ClearQuest in 2023.
